Designing your own Destiny

Do you believe in Destiny?
Many people leave their lives to fate without taking full responsibilities and control of their lives and therefore,
they are not trying their best. When they don’t get what they want, they blame it to luck, fate or destiny.
“I am just not that lucky in love.”
“I am stuck in the wrong job.”
“I am not good at this.”
They think people who are successful in their career or love life are simply luckier than them or possess things and qualities they don’t have but they fail to realize they can create what it takes.
I have heard many single friends who said “I want to have a life partner but will leave it up to fate” or “I just have no luck with love” but when I asked them further if they have been seeing anyone, they said no and they are not really trying but more like waiting for fate to bring someone to their lives. I believe there is somebody for everybody, but they may need to create some opportunities to meet that someone.
As an HR practitioner, I have also spoken to quite a few candidates who have difficulties getting a job or even an interview, but they keep sending out the exact same resume and cover letter (some forget to change the company’s name in their cover letter), while hoping to get a different result.
These people do not seem to have many improvement ideas on what they will need to do to make a difference in their lives but they hope they will be in a better situation or something they want will just come to them by chance or fate.
From my life experience, you can’t do nothing to get something and you can’t keep doing the same thing and hoping it will lead to a different result. Being more creative and innovative can help. When you believe you can make a difference in your life, you will.
If you are single and not really looking or dating someone at all but hoping to meet that someone, then you need to be more attractive, interesting and open to meet more people and let that someone finds you or be able to spot you out of all the people in this world.
If you are unemployed or stuck in the wrong job and hoping to find a better career opportunity, but you don’t seem to get it from sending out the same resume, then you will need to do something about it like renovating your resume as if it is your “personal brand presentation” to make your resume stands out from other candidates’ job application. If you don’t have anything much to write about, you may also need to take up some personal development courses and work skills courses to build up your personal portfolio.
Many unsuccessful people think successful people have it all because they are luckier and smarter people, not necessarily, they just try harder and be more creative and flexible with their approach, they make active decisions to create their own destiny.
It is your determination to succeed that design and create what your destiny will be like. If you are not happy at where you are now, do something different about it, find a different approach, work around the undesirable and uncontrollable factors as if everything depends on you.
If you believe you have full control over your life, you will want to put in your best efforts, you will be very determined and persistent about it and one day you will get there where you always want to be.
